David's Biography

I was born in Amarillo, Texas and raised in Southern California. In 1990, I graduated from Vanguard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Soon after, I relocated to the Dallas area to be near my family. I began part-time work at a fitness club in Rockwall. This health club happened to have a Friday night “lock-in” for kids and needed a Disc Jockey. I have always had a great love for music, and thus I had a great collection of music. That being the case, I took on the challenge of being their Friday night D.J. And so, my career as a disc jockey began! I booked another “teen club type” event on Saturdays, and for the next two years, I worked every weekend honing my skills and gaining much experience.
After two years, I signed with a local booking agency and my D.J. abilities really diversified! I was given the opportunity to expand my horizons as I began to perform at weddings, proms, corporate events, birthday parties, school dances, Karaoke parties and even bar/bat mitzvahs! For the next ten years, I gained the experience that can only come from working hundreds of events of every type.
In 2000, I met my wife Linda at a local Bible study and on December 1, 2001, we married. Our wedding was so phenomenal that everyone wondered who the Coordinator was…it was Linda. She started coming to my events as an assistant and it took my ability to a whole new level! She began to point out little details from both a “Type A” and a woman’s point of view, and it was simply amazing! With my constant desire to grow as a professional, I began implementing the things I was learning from my wife and the results have just been awesome!
In 2003, Linda and I decided to start our own company and “Cassidy’s Entertainment” was born. We’ve been blessed because we are now at the point where we are represented by some of the top Wedding Coordinators and Booking Agencies in the D/FW area. Somewhere along the way, from the humble beginnings of a teen club in Rockwall to the start of our company, I decided that being a Disc Jockey is what I wanted to do. My personality type is one that desires to make people happy. Being a disc jockey affords me that opportunity because, after all, I get to help people celebrate! When you couple this with my life-long love of music, well, let’s just say that I love what I do and it shows. It is like the old saying…“Find something that you love to do and you’ll never have to ‘work’ a day in your life.”
